1.HAND RANKINGS

1.FLUSH

Five cards of the same suit. At least three suited cards should appear on the board for someone to have a flush in Texas Holdem poker. You must note that since only five cards are appearing on the board, it will not be possible for two players in the same hand to have flushes in different suits.

The highest card will win while all the flushes will be of the same suit. For instance: if three Hearts will appear on the board, a poker player who will be holding an ace and a two of hearts will beat someone who will be holding a king and a queen of hearts. If four hearts will appear on the board, a poker player who is holding an ace of hearts and a two of a different suit will beat someone who will be holding any other pair of hearts, Because only one card will be needed to complete the flush. When one had an ace-high flush it is also referred to as having the nut-flush. Of course, if the board will show a three, a four, a five and a six of hearts, then someone who holds a two of hearts will beat someone who holds an ace because the two will complete a straight flush.

2.STRAIGHT

When a poker player holds five cards of differing suits in sequential order. The straight will be higher if the rank is higher of the top card. An ace-high straight will be called the highest possible straight (Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten). An ace, two, three, four and a five will be the lowest possible straight and will often be referred to as a bicycle or wheel. At least three of the cards in the straight should come from the board.

3.THREE OF A KIND

Three cards of the same rank. Also referred to as trips or a set. If one of your pocket pair would match one of the cars on the board or if one of your pocket cards were to match a pair on the board, Or if three of a kind were to appear on the board, it means you have trips. You must also note that more than one poker player could be holding three of the same kind. If a pair of aces were to be on the board, and you were to be holding one ace and an opponent were to be holding the other ace, both of you would have three aces. If three of a kind were to appear on the board, all poker players would have at least three of a kind.

4.TWO PAIRA

A combination of two cards of one rank and two cards of a different rank. This would be a very common hand in Holdem poker and it would illustrate a concept that has been discussed earlier the kicker. Let’s say the board is showing a pair of kings, a three, a seven and a five. You are holding a jack and a three and another player is holding a ten and a three. Both of you will have two pair. Kings and threes, but you will be the winner

Because your jack kicker will beat the ten kicker. As has been mentioned previously, it will be possible for the top kicker to on the board, in which case the pot will be split. Let’s say the pocket cards were the same; the board was showing a pair of kings, a three, a seven and an ace. Both of you were to have kings and threes with an ace kicker. Your jack would not get to play and the pot would have been split. The top pair would determine who would win when comparing hands with two pair. This would bring us to another important concept in Holdem poker the over card. Let’s say you had had a king and a queen in the pocket and the board had come up king, a pair of threes, a queen and an ace.

The ace of the board would be an over card to your king. Your hand was two pair, kings and queens but you would have lost to anyone who had held a single ace in the pocket because they would also have had two pair (Aces and threes).

5.ONE PAIR

Two cards of the same rank. If you had two pocket cards of the same rank, you would have had one pair. If two cards of the same rank had appeared on the board, all the poker players would have had at least one pair. Any card you would have held that had matched at least one card on the board would have given you one pair.

6.HIGH CARD

The high card would win at showdown if none of the combinations described could be formed. If online poker players had shared the same card, the second highest card would play and so on.

7.SPLIT POTS

Suits are not ranked in poker. If two or more players had the same five-card hand at showdown, the money would have been split among them.
