BEZIQUE-5

Ordinary sequence A, 10 , K , Q, J of any suit other than Trump suit - 150
Triple bezique three ♠ Q and three ♦ J (or ♣ Q and ♥ J if either spades or diamonds are trumps) - 1,500
Quadruple bezique Four ♠ Q and four ♦ J (or ♣ Q and ♥ J if either spades or diamonds are trumps) - 4,500
last trick - 50
The routine differs from that of the parent game in the following essentials:
A game is complete in one deal. Trumps are determined by the first marriage or sequence declared by either player.

The tricks are left exposed on the table until such time as a brisque is played. After this the tricks are gathered and turned as usual.
If a card is played from a declared combination may be filled by adding an appropriate card and the declaration scored again.

If a player has declared two marriages in the same suit, he may rearrange the Kings and Queens on the table and declare two more.
Brisques are disregarded for scoring except to break a tie or to save a player from being rubiconed.
If a player fails to score 1,000 points he is rubiconed. His score is added to (not subtracted from) that of his opponent, who adds a further 1,300 points (not 500) for the game. Further, if a player fails to score 100 points, the poker winner adds an extra 100 points to his score.

BEZIQUE FOR THREE PLAYERS

This is played with three packs of cards, and the players all compete against each other. The play is the same as in the parent game with the addition of a score of 1,500 points for triple Bezique.

BEZIQUE FOR FOUR PLAYERS

This is played with six packs of cards, or 192 cards in all. Two play in partnership against the other two.

The dealer places 24 poker cards face downwards in a pile on the table, and on this he places a marker so that the players will be warned when the stock is nearing exhaustion. He deals nine cards to each of the four players and places the remainder of the pack (132 cards in all) face downwards on top of the marker.

In general, the play follows that described under rubicon bezique but there are some differences in the scoring and in declaring.

Carte blanche - 100
Double carte blanche Both partners being dealt hands without a court card - 50
Quintuple bezique Five ♠ Q and ♦ J (or ♣ Q and ♥ J if either spades or diamonds are trumps) - 13,500
Sextuple bezique is so unlikely that no score
has been allotted to it. should it occur,
the correct score is - 40,500
Any 4 Aces - 1,000
Any 4 Tens - 900
Any 4 Kings - 800
Any 4 Queens - 900
Any 4 Jacks - 400
The game bonus is 1,000 points, the rubicon 2,500 points and brisques are disregarded
.

In all other essentials the scoring is the same as in rubicon bezique. The partnership principle, however, introduces two new features in the methods of declaring combinations. First, after winning trick, a player may either declare or leave it to his partner to do so.

Secondly, a player may declare a combination either with his own cards (including those on the table already declared by him) or with one or more of his own cards and one or more of his partner’s declared cards.

Indeed, since a player holds only nine cards, quintuple bezique (and sextuple bezique if it occurs) can only be declared with the help of partner. The player on the left of the dealer leads to the first trick. Beyond these additions, the play follows that of rubicon bezique.
