MATHEMATICS OF POKER
If it’s a game, mathematicians have tried to analyze it.
Poker is no exception.
Although it’s probably impossible to completely analyze poker as a mathematical problem, most individual decisions that arise in poker can be profitably analyzed from a mathematical (or probabilistic or statistical) point of view.
At various points in the book I do that.
At least a basic concept of some of the mathematical principles of poker is needed to excel at the game;however, I do keep the math simple.
Even the math-phobic reader should be able to follow the mathematical concepts used in most of the book.
Later in the book, I do provide an introduction to probability, statistics, and other mathematical concepts and their application to online poker.
For those who want to do their own probability or statistical analysis of the game, this material at least provides a beginning.
You should do this if you want to extend your understanding of the game.
