Mike Caro, The Body Language of Poker, Lyle Stuart, 1982

This book is also a must read for every serious poker player. Unfortunately it’s currently out of print.

The good news is that it should have been republished by the time the book you’re reading goes to press.

Caro intends to update the book and republish it under his own publishing imprint of Mike Caro University.

Because Caro’s reputation as a top poker theorist is only surpassed by his reputation as a procrastinator, I can’t give you a publication date, but watch for it. Buy it when it comes out.

The book discusses tells-player behaviors that give you clues to the strength and weaknesses of their hands. It’s complete with photographs illustrating the behaviors.

If any book can directly and immediately translate into money won at the table, it’s this book.

Mason Malmouth, Gambling Theory and Other Topics,

Two Plus Two Publishing, 1987

Most reviews of this book have been favorable, although I don’t like it.

I include it here because malmuth has a nice introduction to statistical analysis of poker results in the book.

His coverage of the topic is not complete but does provide a good introduction to the interpretation of sample variance.
