You have to know what image your opponents have to you.
It’s not difficult to determine. They’ll tell you.
Some time during the course of a session you’ll have some players offering advice to you.
They’ll tell you how terrible your play of a hand was and how lucky you were to wins that pot
These are players who have decided that you’re a loose-aggressive maniac.
Other players at the same table will say something to the effect that they just can’t put you on a hand, “You’re too tricky,” they’ll say.
These players think you’re a tough player. It’s really that simple.
They’ll almost never mislead you about this. They’ll just tell you.
When They Think You’re maniac
If they think you’re a maniac, they’ll raise and reraise you with weak holdings.
If they bet and you raise, they’ll reraise you with hands like top pair and a weak kicker.
Discount any raises these players make.
Because they’ll always think you are bluffing, they’ll tend to slow plays when they have a better hand than you.
When They Think You’re Tough and Tricky
You can bluff more often these players are in the pot.
They will almost always think that you have a better hand than you really do.
If the flush card hits the river and you bet, they will sometimes even fold top two pair, convinced that you must have the flush.
