CARD GAME DICTIONARY
T
TABLANETTE. In Tablanette, an announcement that a player is able to take all the cards on the table.
TAKE-IT. In Klaberjass, to accept as the trump suit of the turn up card.
TALON. In Piquet and some games of Patience, cards laid aside in one or more packets for later use in the same deal.
TOP LAYOUT. In Monte Bank, the two top cards of the pack placed by the banker face upwards on the table. cf BOTTOM LAYOUT.
TRAIL. In Casino, the play of a card to the layout by a player who can neither pass, combine, build nor call.
TRIO. In Piquet, three cards of the same suit higher than the 9.
TURN UP. A card faced after the deal to determine, or propose, the trump suit.
TWIST. In Vingt-et-Un, a request to be dealt a card face upwards.
U
UP CARDS . (1) In Gin Rummy, the card turned up after each player has been dealt ten cards. (2) In stud poker, a card dealt face upwards.
V
VALLE CARD. In Panguingue, the 7s, 5s and 3s, the melding of which wins chips.
VOID. Having no cards of a specified suit.
VOLE. In Ecare, winning all five tricks.
VULNERABLE. In games of the bridge family, being subject to bigger penalties and bonuses after winning game.
W
WAIVE. The privilege, in some games of patience, to lift a card and play the one under it.
WIDOW. Extra cards dealt to the table usually at the same time as the hands are dealt to the players.
WILD CARD. A card that the rules of the game permit the holder to specify as representing any card.
