Another threaded discussion group is a Web-based forum hosted by Two Plus Two Publishing Company. Known as the twoplustwo forum, it’s devoted to the theory and strategies of poker.

Sometimes other gambling topics pop up, but if you post a question like What’s the best hotel to stay at during the World Series of Poker?

You’ll be quickly corrected by one of the site hosts, poker writers David Sklansky and Ray Zee or poker book publisher Mason Malmuth. Stick to strategic playing issues on this forum.

The twoplustwo forum has many rich threads on topics of poker tactics and strategy. It is, however, censored.

You won’t find much discussion about the drawbacks of the perspectives suggested in books published by Two Plus Two.

You also won’t find much discussion of the benefits of perspectives suggested in books that are published by mainstream publishers.

Even though the perspectives that dominate the discussion threads on this forum are limited, some of the regular posters to the forum have some very useful insight into the poker game.

I don’t post to this forum; when I do get involved in discussions on the Internet, it’s usually on rgp, but I do read the forum regularly. It can be a rich source of ideas.

www.pokerpages.com

PokerPages.com hosts two discussion forums: one on poker and one devoted to poker for women.

Extensive coverage of tournament news and feature articles from many different poker writers are also provided. I writer for them.

E-mail Discussion Lists

Lets Smith hosts an E-mail discussion group, called Texas Holdem.

It’s pretty much open to any poker or poker-related topic, but most of the threads are on subjects that are of particular interest to newer poker players.

To subscribe, send a blank E-mal to TexasHoldem-subscribe@egroups.com.

I host an E-mal list of my own. It ’s a small list, used mostly by me to get early feedback on whatever my current writing project might be.

You’re certainly welcome to join the list if you’re interested.

There’s a button to sign up on my Web site www.garycarson.com.

Although it’s not a discussion list, Mike Caro also has an E-mail list. It ’s a one-way list; Mike sends out announcements of seminars and other events.

Just send a blank message to caro-on@maillist.com. There are also a number of poker newsletters offered by various Web sites.

Poker Chat Rooms

Pokerpages.com maintains a Web-based poker chatroom.

It’s not very active, although they do sometimes use it for scheduled chats with some of their columnists or other poker writers.

The best place for poker chat is at the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) poker games. These are fun games only, played for funny money, no cash involved.

A free graphical client for IRC poker and chat can be downloaded from a site maintained by Greg Reynolds (webusers.anet-stl.com/gregr/). Many of the frequent posters to rgp hang out at this IRC site.
