An Expert Play
1. Suppose you start with four low cards and are playing heads up against a mediocre high hand, such as a high pair. You believe your opponent has put you on these four low cards. What can you do if you catch a big card on fifth street ?
Ans : You can check-raise.
2. What will most players think ?
Ans : They will believe you have a high hand.
3. What if your opponent thinks you have made trips or two big pair ?
Ans : He might throw his hand away.
4. What if he calls and you make an open pair ?
Ans : You can bet out, and there is a good chance that he will fold.
5. What if you catch another low card ?
Ans : Your opponent probably will continue to play , although he may go out if he fears a straight.
6. What if you catch a garbage card ?
Ans : You should check, and your opponent will put you on a four-card straight and will bet.
7. What should you now do ?
Ans : Check-raise him again.
8. What is likely to happen if your opponent calls ?
Ans : He probably won’t pay it off on the river.
9. What if your opponent won’t bet on sixth street ?
Ans : Then this play won’t work.
